Hitting the Road with Bus Graphics
It takes a lot of trust to let someone wrap and take a blade to your brand new $100,000 bus. Some would even say it would take a leap of faith. Ole Miss, however, was more than OK with this. In fact, this was our second major project for them this year following their signage overhaul for Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.
A couple of things that you have to consider when working with a brand as well known as Ole Miss:
Color accuracy is of the utmost importance. Their players, their fans, and the student body will know right away if you don’t nail their team’s colors. This is an especially tricky process when doing UV printing (printing that allows for long-term weather and sun exposure). With UV printing, you cannot 100% rely on Pantone colors because printing is always done as a composite CMYK; It’s not like offset printing where you order the ink and print it. That being said, our color accuracy is phenomenal once we determine what your composite color value is.
There is always pressure to make perfect, clean cuts and to align the panels accurately for any vehicle wrap. When you’re dealing with a wrap this size and scale, however, laying something out, even an inch off, can easily throw off the alignment for the entire wrap.
Thankfully, our shop is setup for these types of wraps. We use our bay area to wrap buses and tractor trailers on a weekly basis. Here is a time-lapse video of the wrap in progress.
The end result was a beautifully, branded bus that the Rebels could be proud of.
For Brandon and Mark, it’s all in a week’s work!
Update: It’s now been a few months since we completed the vehicle wrap on the first Ole Miss bus, and now we’ve been given the opportunity to produce another! Take a look at the finished product.
